New Caledonia’s national team—nicknamed Les Cagous—joined FIFA in 2004 and competes in Oceania, reaching OFC Nations Cup runners-up twice and winning the South Pacific Games multiple times. Despite never qualifying for a FIFA World Cup, they continue to punch above their weight under coach Johann Sidaner, who led them to gold at the Pacific Games in late 2023. The team remains a proud and competitive presence in the region’s qualifiers and youth tournaments.
