The Switzerland national football team, governed by the Swiss Football Association, boasts one of Europe’s longest football traditions and earned a silver medal at the 1924 Olympics (considered an early World Cup). Their best World Cup runs came with quarter-final appearances in 1934, 1938, and 1954, and they've matched that at the Euros in both 2020 and 2024. In both tournaments, their most dramatic achievement was eliminating the world champions—France in 2020 and defending European champions Italy in 2024—to reach the quarter-finals.
